By taking a blood sample from the ear lobe, the concentration of lactate can be determined. It would be best to carry out the test by means of a
step-test on a treadmill or a stationary bicycle. The values obtained by this method allow for an exact determination of the so-called „anaerobic threshold“. Provided that a heart rate monitor is used, the athlete is able to select the optimum amount of training that will best suit them. Future lactate testing will be part of the everyday life of “hobby” athletes, since it is the most objective and significant method of training control.
